The Grave Mistake of Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu
No one will remember that you negotiated with the protesters. You even went to see the President about the demands of the protesters.
No one will remember you said you were on the side of the protesters, and you understand their pain.
No one will remember you set up a committee to look into the cases of those who suffered from police brutality.
What we will remember is that you impose a 24 hour curfew.
The curfew in itself is not bad, but the mistake was, you accepted to use the military to disperse and shoot at your own people.
Must it resolve to using the military? You ordered the release of the military to unleash weapons on the defenseless youths. That is what will be remembered.
Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose script are you following? Is it from the President or from your godfather, Sen Bola Tinubu?
Remember, history will have it that you gave the order. The President will be exonerated, and Sen Bola Tinubu will not be implicated. It is just you, and you alone, who gave the order. You alone will answer for it.
You could have used the mobile police, no. But you chose to use the military.
Why Mr Governor, why? Why follow the script you were not meant to follow? Why send out the military? What do you have to lose if you had ordered the mobile police instead of the military?
Mr Governor, this his your gravest mistake. And it will never be forgotten. October 20, 2020 will never be forgotten in the history of Nigeria
