UN Secretary General
Tens of Rice Farmers killed by Bandits in Borno State.

The Secretary‑General condemns in the strongest terms the horrific attack on rice farm workers in Koshobe village, near the Borno State capital of Maiduguri by suspected militants on 28 November, in which scores were reportedly killed and many others injured or abducted, including women.

The Secretary‑General extends his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and to the people of Nigeria, wishes a swift recovery to the injured and calls for the immediate and safe return of the abductees and those still reported missing. He hopes those responsible for these heinous crimes will be quickly brought to justice.

The Secretary‑General reaffirms the commitment of the United Nations to support the Government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism and in its response to pressing humanitarian needs in the north‑east of the country.
