The Director General, State Services, (DGSS) Alhaji Yusuf Magaji has warned the public to be mindful of groups and individuals planning to cause a breakdown of law and order in the country.
At a media briefing Tuesday, the Service Public Relations Officer, Dr. PN Afunanya said the Service has observed that ” some persons who are desperately seeking for power use wrong and skewed narratives to not only mislead citizens but overheat the polity.”
He noted that these i individuals were already exploiting and politicising the issue of insecurity in parts of the country for”pecuniary and other selfish reasons “.
Adding that ” many simply want to use the situation to cause divisions among the citizens, seek cheap popularity and / or present the country as ungovernable”.
The Service warns that those involved in these should desist from such destabilizing act, Afunanya said.
It also enjoins politicians to play by the rule avoid inciting statements capable of heating up the polity ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Afunanya called on Opinion leaders such as the Clergy, religious and traditional rulers to guard their utterances and avoid inciting prouncements.
In a related development, the Service said Operators of recreation and relaxation centres, parks and hotels should be alert ahead of the festive holidays
He called on owners and operators of such public spaces and their patrons to isolate and report suspected rogues to security agencies.
