Frontline legal icon, Educationist and Founder and Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, ABUAD, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, has taken his vociferous call for the restructuring of the country a notch higher by releasing into the market a 343-page book titled The Elusive Search for Nation Nigeria.
Reviewing the book, ABUAD’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Innovation and External Linkages, Professor Damilola Olawuyi, posited that the book could not have come at a better time bearing in mind that all things considered, “there is no gainsaying the fact that Nigeria is currently at a political, economic, social and developmental crossroads”.
He corroborated his position by saying that: “Poverty is at an alarming rate, several of our roads, electricity, water, aviation and other infrastructures are time-worn, our educational systems are nose-diving, religious and ethnic intolerance are surging; criminality, insecurity, terrorism and kidnappings are at alarming levels. The future of the Nation has never been so uncertain”.

We are all going to shout, and shout abomination, abomination, abomination, tomorrow we move on, talking about 2023, elections, waiting until the next atrocity.
Let me state some very exact legal facts
1- The sharia northern states have actually seceded from Nigeria
2- As I write this , the northern sharia states are no longer parts of Nigeria territory, of course, it’s still situated in the same geographical space as when it was still Nigeria territory
3- The sharia northern states are totally another country, with totally another law, another constitution, another culture, another tradition, another believe, another ambition
4- The secession of the sharia north was actually made possible because the sharia north never considered that fake, illegal, fraudulent workbook called the 1999 constitution as a légal constitution, neither as a légal document, the sharia north as every other region never rectified any constitution, this is the base of the entire problem, one way forward and in fact the only meaningful way is to embark on Rectification by Referendum.
5- The 1999 constitution which was already challenged and has become disputed, and emasculated by practitioners from the Northern Nigerian extraction. The fraud became more pronounced even when OBASANJO introduced the sharia clause into the constitution through the back door, without any referendum, this singular illegal act, shot straight directly in the heart at the already challenged constitution, making it unfair and unworkable for a nation as diverse as Nigeria as a so called Secular State. There the death of Nigeria started.
6- The denatured and deformed 1999 constitution is no longer needed for it has bred more impunity and illegality than never
7- You can see, we’re in a flagrant constitutional mess, an obvious mess, take the electoral act for example how many times are they going to patch, patching, how many times have they amend, amending , it can’t stand because the mother book they are amending from has been bastardised .
8- Nigeria is two totally different countries, with two totally different laws, with two totally different constitutions, with two totally different securities, with two totally different religions pretending to be one nation and entity. It is Not.
9- NIGERIA, is not a SECULAR STATE, if you doubt me move your drinking bar business to the sharia north, go and dress sexy in the sharia north, carry that your beautiful stylish hair to the sharia north, go and be doing night work, prostitution and all that in the sharia north, then come back and tell us your experience
10- For how long will the south continue to drink beers, pay VAT while the north continue to take the lion share of the VAT, while at the same time destroying businesses. You will agree that its not sustainable, cannot work, and will soon seize to continue.
11- THE NORTHERN SHARIA STATES ARE TOTALLY ANOTHER COUNTRY, ANOTHER TERRITORY.
12- DON’T get all these wrong, nobody is against anybody, nobody hates anybody, nobody hates sharia, you want sharia laws, that is OK. You want HIJAB, it’s also OK. You want special dressing code for your police and military, that too is OK. You want your sharia police, it is fine and OK. On the other hand traditionalists want theorist holidays, they want to feel free in their ancestral land, the atheist want to feel free, dress sexy and beautiful, drink, do prostitution live life etc, etc, etc, that’s being secular.
Now what’s the solutions to all that? Let everything be written in into a constitution for the Christian, the Muslim, the Atheist , the Traditionalist, the Non- Believer. That document must be for the interest of all, then and only then can it be called THE PEOPLE’S CONSTITUTION.
13- Look we cannot continue to live in and of lies as a nation in pretensions … Let us spit out the lies and shame the devil, by accepting and acknowledging that we are one, we are not one, and we have never been ONE, we can never be ONE.
